Barry S. Olsen is a well-known interpreter educator and an innovator in interpreting training. He has deep expertise training conference interpreters in the classroom, which he keeps up-to-date in his day job as an Associate Professor with the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
Barry has pioneered teaching interpreting online, creating modern curriculum that leverages ever-evolving technological platforms to the fullest to teach courses ranging from short-course to full academic courses.
Barry specializes in conference interpreting, remote interpreting and interpreting technology. He can also train trainers and often co-teaches with InterpretAmerica Co-President Katharine Allen in community and legal interpreting arenas.

Katharine Allen is a well-known interpreter educator and curriculum developer. She has decades of experience training interpreters across diverse settings, including short-course trainings, online, at conferences and events and for universities.
Katharine is a licensed-trainer for The Community Interpreter and The Indigenous Interpreter and she teaches for the Glendon College Masters of Conference Interpretation in Canada. She has also co-authored several interpreting textbooks and created numerous interpreting curriculums and provides language access consulting.
Katharine specializes in community (including healthcare) interpreting and cross-training legal, healthcare and conference interpreters. She is a trainer for The Community Interpreter training of trainers. She often co-trains with InterpretAmerica Co-President Barry Olsen.
