In 2013, Interpreters on every continent (except Antarctica) joined us for our first live webcast from InterpretAmerica 4 in Reston, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. It was an experiment that helped us expand our reach and allowed us to connect interpreters from around the globe with our one-of-a-kind programming. Several of the sessions from that event can be seen on our Videos page.
As we have ramped up to this year’s Summit, interest in the topics we will be addressing and requests to webcast our content live again this year have been pouring in from interpreters around the world. This is why we are excited to announce that all plenary sessions from the 5th InterpretAmerica Summit on June 12 and 13 will be streamed live over the internet. And in true InterpretAmerica fashion, we’ve partnered with an innovative new company to do it.
VoiceBoxer, this year’s webcast sponsor, is a web presentation and webinar platform built specifically for multilingual virtual events with remote simultaneous interpretation. You read that right, a company focused on providing high-quality, professional remote simultaneous interpreting for online presentations. You can learn more about them here.
Registration for the live webcast is now open. For just US$35.00, the cost of a typical two-hour continuing education webinar—or two tickets to the movies and drinks and popcorn—you’ll gain access to over nine hours of compelling content that will inform, entertain and inspire you. You’ll be able to interact live with conference presenters and participants through an on-screen chat or through Twitter (hashtag #IA5).
You'll also be able to experience VoiceBoxer's full capabilities during the webcast because we'll have two presentations that will be given in Spanish and German with simultaneous interpretation into English. During the webcast you'll be able to listen to the original or the interpretation.
All plenary sessions will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). You can determine the corresponding times in your part of the world by clicking here.
Nothing beats attending an event in person. And being able to network with other attendees face to face is still the best. But if you can’t join us in Monterey, watching online is the next best thing. Register now!
