WIRED Masterminds Video Series Shines a Light on Interpreting

We are excited to announce that WIRED has published two videos that shine a light on the profession of interpreting. InterpretAmerica Co-President Barry Slaughter Olsen spent the last six months working with the amazing creative team at WIRED.com to craft these videos designed to educate the general public about what interpreters do and how they do it. In the videos. Barry appears with two other seasoned conference interpreters and fellow AIIC members, Ms. Katty Kauffman and Mr. Adnane Ettayebi. The videos, which take a lighthearted approach to a serious topic, are an unprecedented opportunity to inform and entertain a potential audience of millions about the interpreting profession through an internationally-recognized media platform.

The first video, part of the WIRED Masterminds series, can be found on YouTube or at videos.wired.com. The second video is available exclusively for streaming on Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, and ROKU. We just may be on to something. In less than 24 hours, the first video surpassed over a quarter of a million views on YouTube alone. If viewership is high enough, we’ll have a shot at producing additional videos for the general public focusing on other fascinating aspects of our profession. We encourage you to watch the videos and share them with your network of contacts. If you are watching on YouTube, give the video a thumbs up and leave a comment. It really does help. As with all our projects at InterpretAmerica, our aim is to “raise the profile of interpreting” and we believe these videos help accomplish that goal. We hope you enjoy them and find them a useful tool for educating clients, family and friends about what we interpreters do.
